The National Inland Navigation Institute (NINI) was set up by the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) to provide specialized training for inland vessel operations. Its primary mission is to build human resource capacity for the inland water transport sector, including navigation, vessel maintenance, and waterway development. The institute is located at Gaighat, Patna, Bihar, along the Ganga river, making it strategically placed for practical training in inland navigation.
