OERC Academy began as the Ocean Education & Research Centre in 1998 and transitioned into a formal Section-25 company in 2004 under the directives of the Directorate General of Shipping. It is part of the OERC Group, which includes OERC Academy and Ocean Education & Research Centre Pvt. Ltd. The academy is located at 902/903, Akshar Blue Chip Corporate Park, Thane–Belapur Road, Turbhe, Navi Mumbai – 400705.
The institute has earned strong recognition for quality, being ISO 9001:2015 certified by ABS Quality Evaluations, graded A1 (Outstanding) by ClassNK, and is a member of GlobalMET.
