Eligibility Requirements

Completion of approved Pre-Sea Training (B.Sc Nautical Science or DNS). Minimum 12 months of approved sea service (for BSC),18 months of approved sea service (for DNS) or 36 months (for others). Valid Passport, INDOS Number, and CDC. Completion of all mandatory STCW basic and advanced safety courses. Valid Medical Fitness Certificate from a DGS-approved doctor.

Learning Outcomes

  • Proficiency in calculating ship position using celestial bodies and terrestrial landmarks. Ability to maintain a safe navigational watch as an Officer of the Watch (OOW). Expertise in managing cargo operations and ensuring vessel stability. Competency in responding to emergencies and distress signals at sea.

Navigation: Terrestrial Navigation, Celestial Navigation, and Chartwork. Ship Operations: Cargo Handling & Stowage, Ship Construction, and Stability. Technical Knowledge: Marine Meteorology and Bridge Equipment (RADAR, ARPA, ECDIS). Regulatory: Collision Prevention (COLREGs) and Basic Maritime Law. Communication: Signals and GMDSS procedures.
